To provide seniors over 50 opportunities to travel places, both daily and extended trips, make new friendships, and provide activities to enhance and enrich the lives of seniors in our community and surrounding communities. We offer a general meeting every fourth Friday of the month, We provide speakers for our general meetings that not only talk about the upcoming trips but on topics of general interest to the community and we have a representative on the Senior Commission and the Coordinating Council who report to the membership at the general meeting. We have a Board of Directors which oversees the selection of trips, selects speakers, and manages the daily operation of the club as well as providing opportunities for developing leadership abilities. We are an all-volunteer organization with about 20 volunteers who perform the many tasks that keep the organization functioning We have been at the Arcadia Community Center at 365 Campus Dr. since it opened.• Officially formed on September 24,1982 for the purpose of having a travel Club for seniors in the area.• Formed as a non-profit 501 (c) 7• Because we are a non-profit club we are required to have members and charge a membership fee which is currently $10.00/year.
How we accomplish our mission:
Travelers’ members have many different opportunities in choices of trips. Examples of day trips have included SoFi Stadium, Solvang, Catalina, Holiday boat tour of Christmas lights, various touring Broadway plays, the Hollywood Bowl and Warners and Paramount Studio tours. Extended trip examples are New Orleans & the Gulf Coast, Holland and Belgium River Cruise, Alaska's Northern Lights. Music Cities Christmas in the south, Japan and Italy. Our trips provide a volunteer escort that is with you throughout the trip guiding and helping to make your trip a success and a memorable event. Professional guides are provided on some of the trips to give interesting facts about the places that are being visited. Also some locations provide a docent to guide you and provide intimate details of the location. We have both a day trip coordinator and an extended trip coordinator that spend the year preparing and organizing trips that will be of interest to seniors. We pride ourselves in offering trips that go above and beyond and are unique adventures for our seniors while at the same time keeping costs reasonable.
